Et dans le Future Lab, un hall situ\u00e9 dans l'enceinte de l'usine de Kleve, dans le Bas-Rhin, on peut la rencontrer en chair et en os, cette chaleur. La porte du four \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature s'ouvre lentement, comme une gorge. Un rideau de flammes s'\u00e9l\u00e8ve du bord inf\u00e9rieur et l'air chaud est encore perceptible \u00e0 plusieurs m\u00e8tres de la chambre. Il fait pr\u00e8s de 1000 degr\u00e9s Celsius \u00e0 l'int\u00e9rieur de l'usine. \"La particularit\u00e9 de ce four est son adaptabilit\u00e9\", explique Paul van Doesburg, le patron de l'entreprise : \"Il peut fonctionner au gaz naturel, \u00e0 l'hydrog\u00e8ne ou m\u00eame \u00e0 l'\u00e9nergie solaire. En fonction de ce qui est disponible et des \u00e9missions de CO<sub>2<\/sub> l'empreinte que le client veut laisser derri\u00e8re lui\". En d'autres termes, un four polyvalent. Un four technologiquement ouvert. Un mod\u00e8le d'art thermique flexible. Les exemples typiques sont les roues dent\u00e9es pour l'industrie automobile, les outils tels que les pinces, mais aussi les composants d'\u00e9quipements militaires, les pi\u00e8ces de munitions - ou les pi\u00e8ces de vaisseaux spatiaux et de satellites. SpaceX, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 spatiale am\u00e9ricaine d\u00e9tenue par Elon Musk, le patron de Tesla, a utilis\u00e9 des produits durcis dans des fours du groupe Ipsen pour ses satellites du r\u00e9seau Starlink. Ipsen, \u00e9crit la filiale am\u00e9ricaine sur Linkedln, a toujours contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper des mat\u00e9riaux et des composants pour l'exploration spatiale. Aujourd'hui, ils sont \u00e9galement \u00e0 bord pour le retour sur la lune. A d\u00e9faut d'autre chose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En r\u00e8gle g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, tous les fours ne sont pas identiques. Diff\u00e9rents fours sont n\u00e9cessaires pour diff\u00e9rents mat\u00e9riaux. Les produits destin\u00e9s \u00e0 l'industrie a\u00e9rospatiale, par exemple, sont principalement fabriqu\u00e9s dans des fours dits \"sous vide\" fabriqu\u00e9s par Ipsen. Ce type de four chauffe le m\u00e9tal dans un environnement \u00e0 basse pression afin qu'il n'entre pas en contact avec l'oxyg\u00e8ne qui pourrait le contaminer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les fours dits atmosph\u00e9riques, en revanche, fonctionnent avec une tr\u00e8s l\u00e9g\u00e8re surpression de quelques millibars. C'est l\u00e0 qu'intervient la nouvelle technologie variable, avec laquelle Ipsen n'oblige pas ses clients \u00e0 avoir une production climatiquement neutre, mais la rend simplement possible en principe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tout est possible, rien n'est obligatoire... Ipsen International transpose ce principe libertaire dans le monde des fours - et cr\u00e9e ainsi la flexibilit\u00e9 n\u00e9cessaire aux r\u00e9alit\u00e9s de la transition \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, dans laquelle beaucoup de choses sont exp\u00e9riment\u00e9es sans que l'on sache exactement quelles technologies s'imposeront. C'est un monde dans lequel il est parfois risqu\u00e9 de ne compter que sur une seule voie. Un monde fait pour les fours d'Ipsen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le Future Lab n'a \u00e9t\u00e9 inaugur\u00e9 que l'ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, juste \u00e0 temps pour le 75e anniversaire de la cr\u00e9ation de l'entreprise. Selon le mythe de l'entreprise, Harold Ipsen, un ing\u00e9nieur am\u00e9ricain, s'est arr\u00eat\u00e9 \u00e0 Cl\u00e8ves en 1948, peu apr\u00e8s la guerre. En fait, il voulait se rendre aux Pays-Bas, mais il s'est retrouv\u00e9 de l'autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la fronti\u00e8re. Dans le pub du village, Ipsen discute par hasard avec le maire et lui fait part de son id\u00e9e de construire des fours. C'est ainsi que les choses se sont d\u00e9roul\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>L'ACIER DOIT AUSSI SE D\u00c9TENDRE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le maire offre \u00e0 Harold Ipsen une grange - le noyau de l'entreprise, qui poss\u00e8de aujourd'hui des sites \u00e0 Rockford, Osaka, en Chine et en Inde. Apr\u00e8s quelques hauts et bas au cours de la derni\u00e8re d\u00e9cennie, le groupe Ipsen emploie actuellement environ 800 personnes, dont 240 \u00e0 Kleve, et a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 un chiffre d'affaires d'environ 175 millions d'euros en 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-dominant-color=\"a9a99e\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #a9a99e;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"455\" height=\"288\" src=\"https:\/\/ipsenglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Mischbatterie.avif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9817 not-transparent\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ipsenglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Mischbatterie.avif 455w, https:\/\/ipsenglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Mischbatterie-300x190.avif 300w, https:\/\/ipsenglobal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Mischbatterie-18x12.avif 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 455px) 100vw, 455px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Conduites de gaz et d'eau sur la carcasse du four \u00e0 haute temp\u00e9rature<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depuis 2007, l'entreprise est d\u00e9tenue par une soci\u00e9t\u00e9 de capital-investissement bas\u00e9e \u00e0 Francfort, Quadriga Capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le laboratoire lumineux du futur d'Ipsen se compose de trois unit\u00e9s, dispos\u00e9es les unes \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 des autres, qui se ressemblent, mais qui ont des fonctions diff\u00e9rentes. Au milieu, \u00e0 environ six m\u00e8tres de haut, se trouve le nouveau type de four, le four polyvalent que l'on a baptis\u00e9 Atlas Green - le vert du lettrage \u00e9tant typographiquement tr\u00e8s proche du vert de Green Peace - probablement non sans intention. Ce four est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement chauff\u00e9 \u00e0 environ 950 degr\u00e9s Celsius ; des charges pesant jusqu'\u00e0 deux tonnes y sont durcies pendant six ou sept heures. Bora \u00d6zkan, technologue en chef d'Ipsen, peut expliquer tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment pourquoi il est bon que les pi\u00e8ces d'acier se d\u00e9tendent \u00e0 la chaleur : cela les rend moins poreuses, plus adaptables et plus dures. \u00c0 gauche de l'Atlas se trouve un four de pr\u00e9chauffage, \u00e0 droite une machine \u00e0 laver l\u00e9g\u00e8rement surdimensionn\u00e9e : c'est l\u00e0 que le mat\u00e9riau, la charge respective, est pr\u00e9chauff\u00e9 et ensuite nettoy\u00e9 apr\u00e8s le traitement thermique, par exemple de l'huile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L'Atlas Green peut passer du chauffage classique au gaz naturel \u00e0 l'hydrog\u00e8ne \u00e0 100 % en quelques minutes ou \u00e0 l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 - id\u00e9alement verte - en quelques secondes. Les br\u00fbleurs du toit du four sont variables, bien que les gaz diff\u00e8rent en termes de densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et de propri\u00e9t\u00e9s de combustion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\"Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 notre technologie hybride, nous avons trois ans et demi \u00e0 quatre ans d'avance sur la concurrence\", d\u00e9clare Bora \u00d6zkan.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lui et son \u00e9quipe de d\u00e9veloppement ont surtout profit\u00e9 de la p\u00e9riode de la pand\u00e9mie pour faire avancer la nouvelle technologie. Aujourd'hui, selon le directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Paul van Does- burg, le four s'inscrit parfaitement dans l'air du temps. Oui, pour de nombreux clients, il est important de produire de mani\u00e8re \u00e9cologique et aussi neutre que possible sur le plan climatique. Personne ne sait encore \u00e0 quel moment, dans quelle mesure et de quelle mani\u00e8re exactement il deviendra vert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L'hydrog\u00e8ne vert n'est pas toujours disponible, et l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 bon march\u00e9 issue des \u00e9nergies renouvelables, qu'il s'agisse de parcs solaires ou \u00e9oliens, n'est pas toujours au rendez-vous. Mais le four reste en place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"Nos clients, explique M. van Doesburg, n'ach\u00e8tent pas des chaudi\u00e8res dans une perspective de deux ou trois ans, mais de 40 ans. Nous ne pouvons et ne voulons pas vendre des syst\u00e8mes qui sont inutilisables en peu de temps, simplement parce que le combustible ne peut pas \u00eatre fourni comme promis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LA FLEXIBILIT\u00c9 COMME CL\u00c9<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le terme cl\u00e9 est la flexibilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"De nombreuses usines de durcissement disposent d'installations solaires \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle sur les toits de leurs usines \", explique M. van Doesburg. Chez Ipsen, la proc\u00e9dure est la suivante : Un logiciel d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par \u00d6zkan et son \u00e9quipe permet de calculer exactement la quantit\u00e9 de dioxyde de carbone \u00e9mise par le four pendant la production, ainsi que les co\u00fbts de chaque \u00e9tape de la production. Si l'\u00e9nergie renouvelable est disponible et bon march\u00e9, les entreprises peuvent durcir les produits pour lesquels les \u00e9missions de CO<sub>2<\/sub> L'empreinte \u00e9cologique est particuli\u00e8rement importante. D\u00e8s que l'\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 verte devient plus ch\u00e8re, lorsque le soleil ne brille pas ou que le vent ne souffle pas, l'accent est mis sur les produits pour lesquels le gaz naturel ou l'hydrog\u00e8ne continueront d'\u00eatre utilis\u00e9s. \"Un client tr\u00e8s soucieux de l'environnement peut utiliser le soleil pendant la journ\u00e9e, tandis qu'un client pour qui les \u00e9missions sont moins importantes peut se chauffer au gaz naturel pendant la nuit\", explique \u00d6zkan. \"Nous ne donnons pas d'instructions contraignantes, mais nous faisons preuve de transparence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans le laboratoire du futur, il montre sur un \u00e9cran comment l'application peut \u00eatre utilis\u00e9e pour passer d'un mode de fonctionnement \u00e0 l'autre. La construction du four rel\u00e8ve de l'ing\u00e9nierie classique. Mais \u00d6zkan affirme que son \u00e9quipe de d\u00e9veloppement compte plus de programmeurs que de sp\u00e9cialistes du mat\u00e9riel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L'investissement a d\u00e9j\u00e0 port\u00e9 ses fruits pour Ipsen International. \"Depuis que nous avons ajout\u00e9 le mod\u00e8le hybride \u00e0 notre gamme, 80 % de nos clients ont command\u00e9 cette variante\", explique M. van Doesburg. Dans le hall de l'usine, il montre comment les fours sont construits, comment la chambre est rev\u00eatue de briques et isol\u00e9e et comment le bo\u00eetier est construit. Selon M. van Doesburg, il faut environ douze semaines pour qu'un four soit enti\u00e8rement assembl\u00e9. En Europe, l'entreprise de taille moyenne construit principalement des fours atmosph\u00e9riques, et aux \u00c9tats-Unis, principalement la variante sous vide. La demande des entreprises de d\u00e9fense a r\u00e9cemment augment\u00e9, cons\u00e9quence du redressement de l'entreprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ipsen ressent \u00e9galement la crise de l'industrie automobile allemande. C'est clair. Les clients de Van Doesburg sont souvent des fournisseurs. Et ceux-ci traversent actuellement une phase difficile. Selon le patron d'Ipsen, environ 40 % du chiffre d'affaires de l'entreprise provient de l'industrie automobile. En ce moment, il lui arrive de rendre visite \u00e0 un fournisseur dont les entrep\u00f4ts sont pleins \u00e0 craquer parce que les commandes des constructeurs automobiles stagnent. \"Je peux comprendre qu'ils ne veuillent pas commander de nouveaux fours pour l'instant\", explique M. van Doesburg. N\u00e9anmoins, l'entreprise se sent forte et bien pr\u00e9par\u00e9e. En cas de nouvelles turbulences sur le march\u00e9, l'entreprise se concentrera entre-temps sur les services, tels que la modernisation des anciennes chaudi\u00e8res. Ou bien elle utilisera ce temps pour d\u00e9velopper davantage l'Atlas Green. Il y a d\u00e9j\u00e0 des id\u00e9es \u00e0 ce sujet, d\u00e9clare Bora \u00d6zkan, directeur de la technologie.
