Tom Sepaniak – Ipsen Software Engineer & Technical Support
Q: We’ve recently decided to connect our vacuum furnaces to the internet for remote monitoring and troubleshooting. Can we add antivirus software to the furnaces’ PCs without disrupting the operations or locking authorized users out of the system?
The good news is yes – you can install and run antivirus on any Windows-based PCs running Ipsen VacuProf or CompuVac software, and you can choose which antivirus software you’d like to run.
There are some settings that you’ll want to adjust to make sure the antivirus won’t interrupt the services you’d be wanting to use by connecting your furnace systems to the internet.
Setting specific exclusions within your antivirus software will allow your antivirus to protect your systems, while making sure you aren’t limiting the functionality that you depend on and expect these systems to deliver.
Refer to your antivirus software for step-by-step instructions to set up exclusions. Click the appropriate link below to determine which exclusions your system will require, based on the furnace software you are running.
