Tech Tips with Tom: Windows Updates and Furnace Controls

Tom Sepaniak – Ipsen Software Engineer & Technical Support

Q: I noticed that my vacuum furnace is operating on Windows 10, and a recent pop-up window recommended that I run Windows Update or suggested that I upgrade to Windows 11. Should I run the update?

Many current CompuVac and VacuProf users are running Windows 10 – specifically the version that came installed at the time the machine was delivered. Changing operating systems, or even updating Windows, can make a major impact on how these systems operate – possibly even rendering the software inoperable until the systems have been restored to Windows 10 and the furnace software has been reinstalled.

Fortunately, we have shut off automatic updates for any machines shipped directly from Ipsen, and furnaces that are not internet connected shouldn’t have any reason to indicate that updates are available.
