2026 Summer Interns Reflect on Their Experience at Ipsen

As summer comes to a close, Ipsen’s 2026 interns reflected on the skills, experiences and perspective they gained while working alongside teams across the company.

Although each intern worked in a different area of the business, several common themes emerged from their experiences. Communication and collaboration were among the most important. Interns saw firsthand how work moves across departments and how effective communication helps teams identify challenges, manage dependencies, and keep projects on track.

They also developed a stronger understanding of how individual roles contribute to the larger organization. Across Finance, Project Management, Retrofits, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality, interns took on projects that provided hands-on experience while supporting ongoing business needs.

Taelor, Finance, supported operations through account reconciliations, W-9 management, and check processing. She removed more than 1,000 outdated W-9 forms, verified even more active forms, and created a new filing system to improve record accuracy. In addition, she assisted with high-value check processing and vendor communications and even got to plan companywide team-building activities. Through her work, she gained a better understanding of accounting processes and day-to-day business operations, while building confidence in her communication skills.

Boris, Project Management, supported furnace project execution through scheduling, documentation, and customer approval processes. He managed weekly production and backlog schedules, created contract information packages, and prepared equipment arrangement approval packages for customers. His experience gave him a practical understanding of the furnace project lifecycle and the cross-functional coordination required from sales through shipping and field service.

Elijah, Retrofits, helped improve customer access to furnace documentation while supporting aftermarket retrofit operations. He helped eliminate a backlog of retrofit closeouts, organized customer documentation, generated bills of materials, and worked with Engineering to develop assembly routing instructions for mechanical and electrical retrofits. His projects strengthened his technical documentation and problem-solving skills while giving him experience with digital tools that support customers and internal teams.

Abbie, Mechanical Engineering, completed design and documentation work for multiple furnace projects. She released the full mechanical design package for one MetalMaster furnace, completed a chamber assembly containing more than 480 components for another MetalMaster, and developed inspection worksheets to improve vendor quality control. She also completed approximately 30 design corrections, gaining hands-on experience in mechanical design, quality improvement, and engineering documentation.

Jacob, Supply Chain, supported purchasing operations through purchase order processing, order expediting, vendor coordination, and record management. His primary project involved compiling purchasing, pricing and volume data for more than 2,500 parts from a key supplier to support future sourcing and cost optimization efforts. The experience provided firsthand exposure to supplier management and the connection between purchasing, engineering and production.

Emma, Quality, supported warranty claim management and quality documentation. She contributed to the launch of the Salesforce Warranty Claims process, helping process more than 250 cases and close more than 190 while reducing the backlog of open claims. She also participated in root cause investigations and ISO 9001:2015 documentation updates, strengthening her skills in process analysis, technical writing, and quality management. In addition, Emma had the unique opportunity to serve on a jury during a four-day trial, gaining valuable experience outside of her internship working with people from diverse backgrounds and making important decisions.

Eli, Controls Engineering, worked with vacuum furnace control systems and controls retrofit projects. He configured operator interfaces, programmed PLCs, troubleshot communication and data logging issues and helped integrate new system capabilities across several retrofit projects. His work provided practical experience with industrial communication protocols, controls programming, and troubleshooting complex furnace automation systems.

Across these projects, the interns strengthened skills in problem solving, root cause analysis, technical writing, documentation, organization, and attention to detail. They also stepped outside their comfort zones, worked with new teams, and built confidence by applying classroom knowledge to real-world challenges.

Geoffrey Somary, Ipsen CEO, expressed his appreciation for this year’s intern class, recognizing their humility, openness in sharing both successes and challenges, and the energy they brought to the organization. He also noted the confidence and professional growth they demonstrated throughout the summer.
